Day 1: Powering the Global Quality of Life
The event kicked off with a warm welcome, setting the stage for two full days of innovative discussions.
The opening keynote, “Powering the Global Quality of Life Together,” explored how the energy sector is working to make energy cleaner, more accessible, and affordable for all. Colin Westmoreland, Enverus CIO, highlighted the rising global demand for power and examined the technological and AI-driven innovations that are reshaping the industry. With compelling data on global energy trends, the session laid out the energy challenges facing the world but sparked a sense of optimism about the exciting opportunities ahead.
Following the keynote, attendees enjoyed a session that examined how solar power can be effectively managed in the face of unpredictable weather patterns. Evan Kyte, Product Manager at event sponsor Clean Power Research, discussed methods for harnessing solar data to mitigate the risks posed by climate fluctuations, ultimately improving the reliability of solar projects.
Before moving on to a series of sessions that delved deeper into the finer details of the renewable energy transition, there was a particularly compelling panel discussion focused on “Unlocking the Potential of Energy Storage,” which featured Diego Laffon, Elena Marabini, and Kim Keats and was expertly moderated by Ghada Alafranji. The discussion shed light on BESS’s technical and financial elements, dissecting the regulatory and economic landscape that will determine the future of storage.

A session held by Ángela del Carmen, CEO of Imageryst (event sponsor), followed this, exploring new tools and strategies for streamlining the construction phase of renewable energy projects, helping IPPs, EPCs, and developers reduce delays and stay on budget.
Cris Vincent Alidon, Vice President of Engineering and Execution for Aboitiz Power (event sponsor), then provided vital insights and considerations for navigating the PV project lifecycle for project managers and procurement professionals in his session “Key Lessons in Large-Scale PV Module Sourcing.”
The technical side of renewable energy was also featured, with topics like energy yield estimations in agrivoltaic tracker projects. Khalil Sfar, Head of Engineering from Enoé (also event sponsors), highlighted the need for standardized tools to optimize the performance and adoption of agrivoltaics in France’s energy transition.
Exploring Financial and Technological Tools for PV Projects
After a break, sessions continued with an array of more technical topics, such as how the latest financial metrics can be leveraged to boost the profitability of photovoltaic projects, 3D energy yield calculation models, and site analysis with PRISM Europe.
Challenges were addressed head-on with sessions on “Navigating Social Risk in Renewable Energy Projects,” emphasizing the importance of social license principles, respect, transparency, and mutual benefit. Discussions then turned to grid interconnection injection capacity for large-scale PV, storage plants, spot markets, and ancillary services.
To cap off a day full of insights and expertise, topics such as due diligence through AI, restricted areas strategies in RatedPower, and hybrid BESS analysis were covered in question-filled sessions. This was all topped off with a look into the use of drones in solar projects and the future of sustainability.
Day 1 concluded with a lively “Happy Hour” sponsored by Imageryst and a dinner at Bosco de Lobos restaurant, providing ample opportunities for participants to connect and discuss the day’s learnings in a more relaxed environment.

Day 2: “Solar is great, wind is great - But solar, wind, and storage combined is better!”
The second day of the event kicked off with Juan Romero, co-founder and VP of Power and Renewables, Enverus, with a session on “Solar Plus Storage Grids,” where he shared extensive analysis of the economic implications of combining solar power with storage technologies. With electricity prices fluctuating, understanding the financial and technical benefits of solar-plus-storage configurations is becoming increasingly critical.
An insightful panel followed that included Ángela del Carmen, Inés López-Pita, José Franquelo, and Florian Strunck, who dug deep into optimizing the Renewable Power Landscape with AI and big data.
In the following session, “Dispatch Strategies for Battery Energy Storage Systems,” key tactics were shared about balancing supply and demand. Alongside this was a session that dug into site prospecting and layout optimization. Attendees learned how to boost the prospecting process to create more accurate site assessments for their solar PV projects. This led to a talk examining the Layout Editor tool, facilitating discussions on how designers can customize PV plant layouts to maximize energy yield and minimize costs.

A Deep Dive into Flexible Interconnection Schema
As renewable energy projects scale up, optimizing grid interconnection becomes crucial. The “Flexible Interconnection Schema” session offered an in-depth look at how users can strategically channel power from multiple solar sites to the grid, maximize their energy exports, and make their plants more profitable. This discussion was particularly pertinent for utility-scale developers, as it addressed how to tailor grid feed-in points to boost energy output and reduce costs.
Sustainability and Market Trends: The Road Ahead
The future of renewable energy is not without its challenges, as highlighted in a session on “New Sustainability Challenges for Renewable Projects.” Attendees discussed the environmental and social issues that developers must consider when designing and implementing projects, particularly in light of new regulations and changing market conditions.
Another thought-provoking session offered an overview of the rapidly evolving hydrogen market. With hydrogen touted as a key player in the future energy mix, this session provided valuable insights into the market dynamics and growth opportunities for hydrogen developers.
Hydrogen could provide a significant advantage in reducing carbon emissions. This technology is produced from renewables and can be used as a pollution-free fuel.
