Hand-building a layout in CAD takes a day or two for one scenario, and the second scenario costs you the same again. So you build one, and the alternative you were curious about never gets tested.

Then the layout moves to the yield tool, and the yield moves to the cost model, and the cost model feeds a document set you assemble by hand. An EPC engineer described the loop as three or four steps, and finished with the part that matters: you tend to lose some data.

Another put it more bluntly, calling the string calculations tedious and boring. None of that is engineering. It's transcription with an engineering degree attached.

You control the parametric layout on GCR, tilt, pitch, row length and DC/AC ratio. Module-by-module 3D ray-traced yield follows in roughly 10 to 20 minutes, with terrain and near-object shading inside the calculation rather than a derate applied after it.

String sizing, inverter and transformer selection, medium-voltage routing and single-line diagrams.
