Renewable energy influencers in Spain

The Spanish National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan 2021-2030 (PNIEC) is expected to boost the growth of solar PV in this country. This plan foresees a 74% share of renewable energy in electricity generation by 2030, with a total installed capacity of 161GW, of which 39GW will be solar photovoltaic energy. Spain is definitely one of the world leaders in photovoltaic energy, which will be led by these outstanding professionals.

Therefore, we have created a list of influencers in the industry that we do not intend to be a ranking but rather accounts that we personally like.

Loreto Ordóñez

Loreto is a mining engineer with more than two decades of experience in electricity and gas companies who currently holds the position of CEO at Engie Spain. Throughout her career she has worked in various areas such as Operations Management, Business Development and Local and International Investments.

Rafael Mateo

Rafael Mateo, CEO of Acciona, is an industrial engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector. Considered one of the leading experts in renewable energies, he spent more than 25 years at Endesa as CEO of Endesa Chile and Production Director.

Enrique Riquelme

Enrique is an entrepreneur who has always been linked to energy and social commitment. He has founded several companies including Cox Energy and Grupo El Sol in Panama.

José Donoso

José is the Director of UNEF (Spanish Photovoltaics Association) for more than 8 years and he is a reference person in the renewable energy sector. He is the General Secretary of the Photovoltaic Technology Platform for the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, a Member of the market agents Committee of the Iberian Electricity Market (OMIE), President of the Global Solar Council and member of the Task Force 1 PV International Energy Agency (IEA).

Director of Array technologies, Javier has spent his entire career, more than 20 years, dedicated to Sales and Business Development in the energy industry. He has worked in several of the leading companies in the sector worldwide (Acciona, Siemens Gamesa, Vestas…) and has extensive international experience.

Marta Martínez

Graduated in business administration, Marta is the CEO of CUBE RENEWABLES IBERIA. Previously, she held several important positions, such as CEO of T-Solar for more than 10 years, where she has detected many business opportunities.

Jorge Barredo

Jorge, CEO of Naturgy Renovables, has spent his entire career dedicated to the renewable energy sector. Among the various positions he has held, he has held the presidency of UNEF for more than 8 years.

Javier Asensio-Marín

Javier has more than 20 years of career dedicated to renewable energies and during the last 10 years he has held executive positions in leading companies. He is currently the Manager Director of Falck Group and Board Member of UNEF (Unión Española Fotovoltaica).

Javier Bahamonde

Alejandro Villegas

Julio Furnier

Julio is the Vice President and General Manager EMEA at Canadian Solar with several years of experience in international markets and leading companies in the industry.

Jesús Prado

Jesús has been dedicated to the solar photovoltaic sector for more than 15 years and has been involved in projects across 5 continents. He currently holds the position of Senior Sales Director, EMEA- LATAM at NEXTreacker.

Andrés Sandoval

Andrés has 13 years of experience in the renewable energy industry. Since 2008 he has been part of Enertis, where he has managed the international development of the company in markets such as the United Kingdom, Central America and Colombia. Andrés has also participated in the definition and initial development of some of its business lines.

He has been responsible for managing specific projects, such as joint-ventures and investments made by Enertis in other companies in the sector. Prior to joining Enertis, he held management positions in the automotive industry.

David Ruyet

David is an Industrial Engineer, MBA and current Managing Director of Energías del Plata, with a career dedicated to renewable energies. He has also devoted part of his professional career to teaching,  like for example, several MBAs in Spain and Uruguay.

José-Ramón Largo

Alejandro García

Álvaro Díaz del Río
