Over the last few years, China has confirmed its position as a leading market in the solar energy industry. According to the Chinese National Energy Administration, the total installed capacity of solar PV plants developed in China over the course of 2020 reached a staggering 48.2 GW, marking a 60% increase from the previous year. These impressive figures represent more than a third of the PV capacity added globally.

Not only is the Chinese market huge in size, but it also boasts enormous potential for growth in the near future, as is reflected by the opinion of +100 industry experts who participated in a research report carried out by RatedPower. Projections for 2021 forecast the development of an additional capacity of between 60 GW and 75 GW. Despite increasing constraints in land supply and grid connection, utility-scale installations will make the largest contribution to the development of Chinese PV in 2021, PV Magazine points out.

In order to improve user experience, RatedPower is constantly evolving. In light of the importance of the Chinese market, RatedPower has made it a priority to tailor to the needs of Chinese companies. The newly supported Chinese electrical standards (GB 50217-2018) and RatedPower Chinese interface and engineering documentation, drawings and spreadsheets will hopefully be effective in helping Chinese companies optimise the design and engineering of utility-scale PV plants in the most efficient manner.

Chinese interface and documentation

RatedPower's Chinese interface is the latest addition to the previously available English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. By using our platform, users can automatically and rapidly generate 400+ pages of both basic and detailed engineering documentation useful for quoting and bidding among other processes (e.g. Design Report, Energy Yield Report, Interconnection Facility Report, Bill of Quantities, Single-Line Diagrams, Listing of Cables, etc.). All said documents are now also available in a Chinese version.

Chinese electrical standards

Another major RatedPower update geared towards Chinese users is the newly-added support for Chinese electrical standards (GB 50217-2018) in terms of cross-section cable sizing. Chinese users can now easily use RatedPower to simulate projects which conform to local standards.

All in all, RatedPower will continue to adapt RatedPower not only to the Chinese market, but to all of the markets where it has presence, trying to fulfill its customer specific needs while staying a global tool.
