Efficient 360º PV plant project design
pvDesign covers the entire design process of utility-scale solar projects while recommending optimal input values at each step of the process. pvDesign automatically populates the defined site with structures, calculates the length of the needed cables while optimizing the position of roads and power stations and sizing the interconnection facility for your project.
Define civil configuration
Choose the orientation of your roads (vertical, horizontal, with or without perimetal roads), power stations (inside or outside the dc field), and structures (rotated, with an offset or a turning angle axis).
Select the equipment
pvDesign has a vast and up-to-date catalog of mono and bifacial modules, inverters (central and string), and structures (fixed or trackers). If the equipment you are looking for is not available, upload a .pan
file (for modules) or a .ond
file (for inverters) to your private database in pvDesign or ask our support team to create the structure that you are looking for.
Choose the interconnection facility
Size the interconnection facility by choosing between the IEC or the IEEE standards and select your connection type. Both a switching and breaking station or a step-up substation (with single or double busbar arrangement) are available. You can set areas for HV lines that connect the plant substation with the grid point. In addition, you can take into account the power factor when sizing the PV plant.
Set the electrical configuration
Choose the electrical standard for cable sizing you want your design to follow (either IEC NEC, AUS or GB), and your DC and AC voltage drop. Define everything you need for your power stations: inverters, losses, and your DC/AC ratio. Users can choose between maximum or specific capacity. In maximum capacity pvDesign will try to maximize the capacity that you can fit in the defined site, whereas in specific it will fit the exact capacity you decide (as long as the site is big enough). You can even configure your low voltage configuration and choose an electrical arrangement provided by pvDesign according to the previously set parameters.
Sharing is caring
Stop emailing project files with colleagues and mess it up with document versions. Access, clone, iterate, and compare site projects across the entire organization. All plans include unlimited seats.
Tailored for solar PV
By gathering accurate irradiance data, the LCOE for your ground-mounted PV project is solid.
Multiplayer enabled
All our plans come with unlimited users and allow for creating as many designs per project as needed.
Lives in the cloud
pvDesign is efficient and scalable. It offers a SaaS deployment model to push new features instantly. Leave to our experienced team the hassle of maintaining the software. It enables you to grow as you go. Login and work on your browser.
Glocally accepted
Both input and output data and insights follow domestic standards, such as the IEEE SA, IEC, NEC or Standards Australia for electrical or cable sizing. Seamlessly adapt your results to your specific needs.
Making it simple
pvDesign bridges the gap between technical and non-technical users. So both types of roles can perform complex calculations and analysis in minutes with a very intuitive and user-friendly interface and recommended parameters included.
